Light the Night Walk

This year will be the 5th year that we have participated in Leukemia & Lymphoma’s Annual Light the Night Walk. Two of those years Nick was with us and we walked with the hope that he could overcome this illness. This is the 3rd walk we will walk without him and I write this with tears streaming down my face and I invite you to join our crusade to do everything in our power to eliminate the disease that took him from us. We will never “relent” in our effort to spare another person from having to go through what Nick went through or another family from having to go through what we now face every day.

Thanks to your efforts, last year we were recognized as the 3rd largest individual contributor in the city raising $17,000. However, there were 700 people walking in memory of our Nick, we were recognized as the largest group of participants. That is just incredible and says so much about the love that people have for Nick.

While it is personal for us, Light The Night is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s annual fundraising Walk that celebrates and commemorates lives touched by cancer. There are seven Walks in the Eastern PA region, which are expected to raise $1.8 million in 2008. Funds raised to advance the mission of LLS: cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. For more information please visit www.lightthenight.org/epa or call 1-800-482-CURE.

Please join us this year on Saturday, October 18th at 6:30pm at FDR Park, Philadelphia, PA – directions from Delco: I-95 North to Broad Street, Broad Street to Pattison Avenue, left on Pattison to FDR Park on your left. As the date nears, I will send out an email for a designated meeting place.

If you can’t make it, we would appreciate a small donation to the HEADstrong Foundation, 466 Hutchinson Terrace, Holmes, PA or donate through our website at www.headstrongfoundation.org or donate directly through the Light the Night website (above) make sure to indicate Team HEADstrong. If you do walk, we encourage you to register at this link – http://teams.lightthenight.org/TheHEADStrongFoundation

If you raise or donate $100, you will receive a t-shirt from the LLS Society with HEADstrong’s logo on it.

On behalf of Nick and our family, thank you.
