As a member of the HEADstrong team I can honestly say there is no other club that offers the experience that this team does. I get the chance to meet a lot of great people and teammates. But the best part is it is not about wins or losses, it is playing for the purpose.

You are not playing for yourself, your playing against cancer. Cancer is our
rival.

About the Tournament:
Every year, to honor Nicholas “Head” Colleluori, and those affected by blood cancer, the HEADstrong Foundation hosts “The Nick Colleluori Lacrosse Classic”, which has become the premier Men’s Collegiate Fall Ball Lacrosse Tournament. With help from the college lacrosse teams, and the lacrosse community, the HEADstrong Foundation continues to build “Team of Champions” to combat blood cancer. Each participating team sells HEADstrong T-Shirts on their campus, to raise funds & awareness of this disease. All proceeds go towards Blood Cancer Research & Family Assistance.

The HEADstrong Foundation would like to thank all of the college lacrosse teams for their support of this great cause. To date the Nick Colleluori Lacrosse Classic has raised approximately $425,000 towards The HEADstrong Foundation’s mission of elimination of blood cancers. To drive home the HEADstrong Mission, and to allow each team to experience the importance of their hard work, each team will be assigned a HEADstrong Honorary Captain, someone currently dealing with blood cancer. The Honorary Captains will be part of the team for the day, and will serve to inspire them, with their relentless courage.

Single Day General Admission will be $10.00 for Adults, and $5.00 for Children (12) years and under and free for children 5 and under. A Two-Day Pass is available for $15.00 for Adults, and $7.00 for Children (12) years and under.

Hannum’s Harley-Davidson of Media and Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania announces that they have chosen the HEADstrong Foundation as their charity of choice for this year’s 10th annual charity bike run.   The 10th Annual Dam Run will be hosted at Hannum’s Harley Davidson at their Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania location (1241 Baltimore Pike) on Sunday September 26th 2010.  Ride registration is by donation only and will benefit the HEADstrong Foundation.  Registration begins at 8am with the ride departing at 10am.  The Dam Run will ride the back roads of Chester County.  The first 500 riders will receive a free t-shirt with the Hannum’s and HEADstrong Foundation logos.  Riders will return at 12 for food, live music by Lecompt, fashion show and prizes

Motorcycle enthusiasts everywhere are invited to participate in this fantastic event which will honor Nick “HEAD” Colleluori.  The HEADstrong Foundation was established by Nick as he fought against blood cancer.  After a “relentless” 14 month battle, at the age of 21, Nick lost his fight to Lymphoma but his legacy lives on.  The mission of the HEADstrong Foundation is to support and raise funds for blood cancer cure, treatment and research and to raise public awareness about the disease. 

The year’s run has special meaning to Tom Hannum as he coached Nick Colleluori in lacrosse during his youth lacrosse days and the Colleluori Family is very grateful for Hannum’s recognizing the Foundation this way.

Current statistics state the every 4 minutes someone is diagnosed with blood cancer and every 5 minutes someone loses their battle to this disease.  That means that during the ride, 48 people will die because of this disease and 60 people will be newly diagnosed.  It may be someone you know.   Don’t wait 5 minutes to be effective… or afflicted.

A portion of the ticket sales will be donated to the HEADstrong Foundation.  HEADstrong merchandise will also be raffled off.

The HEADstrong Foundation is pleased to announce that the 2010 Score for a Cure program has generated approximately $53,000 towards its mission. It is no coincidence that 27 participants will receive a Limited edition Cascade Pro 7 helmet made especially for the foundation.

The Foundation is so grateful to the participants who recognized our cause and joined our Team of Champions in the fight against blood cancer. Thank you so much for all your hard work in raising awareness about blood cancer in your community and funds toward blood cancer research.

The top producing team was Team Relentless raising approximately $30,000, they are the recipients of the Brine Tune-Up Clinic next spring.

Hello My Name is Michael Faraone. I was a coach For New Hyde Park P.A.L. 1st and 2nd grade team. I have attached a picture of the team and a second picture of my son Michael #15 and Jimmy O’Connell #14, just two of the many boys who help raise almost $1100.00 from the parents of the team by scoring plenty of goals. These kids knew that every goal scored was going to help someone with cancer and they played every game with heart and determination. This same team the year before (not a part of score for cure) scored just 2 goals in 7 games. This year, they scored 37 goals in 7 games.

When I came across your foundation after seeing the laces and doing some research I needed to get involved. First of all I love the sport of Lacrosse (my son does to) and my father lost his battle with cancer over 10 years ago. Next year we are hoping to get started earlier and raise more. We are so excited!

Thank you so much for doing what you do. We will do “OUR” part from this point forward to help keep Nick’s vision alive.

My name is Stephen Schuster, M.D.    I have been asked to write about how lymphoma has touched my life.  Well, as a physician studying and practicing oncology for 26 years, I am like Ulysses in the poem by Alfred Lord Tennyson, “I am part of all that I have met.”  Why specifically lymphoma?  Again, “I am part of all that I have met.”  Among cancer patients, patients with lymphomas like Nick Colleluori, have touched and inspired me to devote my life to the treatment and study of lymphomas.  As a result of my experiences with lymphoma patients, lymphoma has more than touched my life; it consumes my life.  In my clinical practice, I now almost exclusively treat patients with lymphomas and in my research, work to develop new therapies for those whom current therapies fail.  By nature, I am a stubborn man and a poor loser.  Like Ulysses, my nature is “To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.”  Like Nick, I am “relentless.”
